Ultimate Battletop Championship

Thanks for checking out the wonderful world of Battletop! You are embarking on a journey of skill and destruction equal to no other game!
Whether you are playing in a local Battletop contest, or the Ultimate Battletop Championship of the Universe, you are bound to have a ton of fun and build a new skill. At the major contests there has been trophies awarded to the top finisher, and sometimes prizes too!

Resources and Downloads

If you are interested in running your own BATTLETOP contest, there are resources available below. Please feel free to ask questions via my contact information on this page.

• Rules for Battletop

• XLSX- Scoresheet to score electronically.

• Paper score sheet to fill in by hand if you can't do electronic scoring.

• Video describing the UBC This is a video I put together to show a basic version of the game.

3d - Print the official arena. This is a file created by Thor Wright. A bit more in depth to print, but it will get you the official "Sharp Shooter Target". It is made in 4 pieces to assemble after printing. Held together with pins and a retaining clip, it can come back apart which makes it great for travel. (The logo may change from year to year, but the dimensions are exact.)

• 3d - Print a mini arena. This is a file Dave Adams put on Thingiverse to 3-d print your own. Easier 3-d print for beginners. It is not the official dimensions, but will help you practice!

Sharp Shooter Target

The target can be modified as you see fit, but the official target has 4 regions. About a 2" center worth 5 points, 4" circle for 3 points, 9" circle for 2 points, and 18" circle for 1 point. Make sure it is made of a high quality material that will not break easily.

Below is a 3-D printed target made by Thor Wright.

You can also pay Thor to print it for you. (Approximately $75 after printing and shipping.)

Contact Dave Schulte or Thor Wright for orders.

Battle Arena

The battle arena needs to be pretty durable, or readily replaceable. It is best if it is a dish or domed surface to encourage the tops to hit each other and slow down. You can add obstacles to the arean if you want there to be more action, and less spin time to speed up the game. For many years the contest used a circlular sled made of plastic or aluminum.

In recent years we have found the end from a semi-truck gas tank works great. (Good luck finding a semi-truck gas tank you can cut apart and polish up for the arena, but if you can, it is perfect!)

The trophies are a special breed, made to exemplify and demonstrate the beauty of BATTLETOP! (See links below for examples of great trophies that have been awarded over the years.)

If you are considering organizing a UBC, there are different levels based on the event.

Ultimate Battletop Championship of the Universe. Can only be held once annually, at the World or National level contest.
Ultimate Battletop Championship of the (Region). Can be held annually in each region.
Ultimate Battletop Championship of the (State). Can be held annually in each state.
Ultimate Battletop Championship of the ????? (Contest, club meeting, backyard BBQ, etc) Can be held as often as you would like.

Trophy examples

One of the great reasons UBC is so much fun, is that the winner is sometimes awarded a unique trophy.
Here are some photos and videos of the past trophies for the event. Most of these were made by Mark Hayward.
In 2018 the tradition has been set to have the winner of the event create the following years trophy. (Either make, design, or buy a trophy of some kind....it doesn't have to be perfect, just something to glorify this awesome contest. If the winner cannot do it....they are supposed to find someone who can!)
